Finding Our Why

“Those who have a 'why' to live, can bear with almost any 'how'.”
― Viktor E. Frankl

When I made the decision to remove alcohol from my life in 2010, I recognized that even after all the mistakes I had made, I remained blessed in my circumstances. I also realized that while talent is equally distributed, opportunity is not. There are people filled with potential who simply don’t have the opportunity to succeed, and if given a chance they can thrive. It was then I decided to devote my life to public service. I had found my why, my purpose.

Upon graduating from U.S. Army Officer Candidate School in March of 2020, I was fortunate to be offered a role at Catholic Charities New Hampshire supporting Liberty House , a safe and substance-free transitional housing community for homeless veterans, and New Generation , a shelter and transitional housing facility for pregnant women, mothers, and children experiencing homelessness.

With a long-term military training beginning in November of 2021 and lasting into 2022, I have taken a leave from CCNH for this period, and will return upon graduation. Not wanting to lose contact with those I have met and formed a bond with, my colleagues and I came up with the idea of setting up a blog to keep everyone up to date on my progress while sharing some experiences that tie into the mission of supporting and protecting the most vulnerable among us.

And with that, “Finding Our Why” was born. Please stay tuned for regular updates in the blog section, and feel free to ask questions, or drop me a note through the “Contact” section!
